Dans les manuscrits grecs, cette \u00e9toile \u00e9tait une croix dont chaque angle \u00e9tait point\u00e9. Elle indiquait en particulier la fin d\u2019un po\u00e8me mais signalait aussi un manque, une ellipse. Dans les ann\u00e9es 1960, Pierre Faucheux (1924-1999) a travaill\u00e9 pour le Livre de Poche, mais aussi pour le Seuil, cr\u00e9ant le graphisme de la collection \u00ab Points \u00bb au d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es 1970 et le consid\u00e9rant comme \u00ab sa plus vivante r\u00e9ussite \u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Ce graphisme, inspir\u00e9 d\u2019autres couvertures r\u00e9alis\u00e9es notamment pour Arthaud ou pour Albin-Michel, frappe par son \u00e9l\u00e9gante simplicit\u00e9. Il \u00e9voque aussi l\u2019ouverture et la fermeture \u00e0 l\u2019iris qui, dans le cin\u00e9ma muet, permettait de mettre l\u2019accent sur un fragment de l\u2019image. Et si la couverture de livre \u00e9tait ce \u00ab morceau \u00bb \u00e0 la fois \u00e9vocation et masque, ellipse et marque de r\u00e9f\u00e9rence ?
